Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 8th January, 2017 protesting the unjustifiable arrest of Gaibandha district’s Sundarganj East Organizational thana Ameer Md. Saiful Islam Mondol and Lalmonirhat district’s Hatibandha Upazila’s Goddimari Union Jamaat president Shamsul Alam for their alleged involvement with the recent murder incident of Gaibandha-1 constituency’s Awami League lawmaker Monjurul Islam Liton.

“Jamaat-e-Islami has no connection with the detainees who had been arrested in connection with the murder of Gaibandha-1 constituency’s Awami League lawmaker Monjurul Islam Liton. They have been arrested as a part of political repression. They are completely innocent.

Police has unjustifiably arrested Gaibandha district’s Sundarganj East Organizational thana Ameer Md. Saiful Islam Mondol and Lalmonirhat district’s Hatibandha Upazila’s Goddimari Union Jamaat president Shamsul Alam to mislead the investigation process of the lawmaker Monjurul Islam Liton’s murder. By the grace of Almighty Allah, they will certainly be proved as innocent.

I am urging the authorities concerned to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir including Gaibandha district’s Sundarganj East Organizational thana Ameer Md. Saiful Islam Mondol immediately.”
