Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of its Central Publicity and Media Department, Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair today, 14 January, issued a statement strongly condemning and protesting the brutal killing of Homeopathic Doctor and Anwarullah, Vice-President of the West Rajabazar Ward of Sher-e-Banglanagar South Thana Jamaat-e-Islami under Dhaka City North Mr. Anwarullah.

In the statement, he said: I strongly condemn and protest the brutal killing of Homeopathic Doctor and, Vice-President of the West Rajabazar Ward of Sher-e-Banglanagar South Thana Jamaat-e-Islami under Dhaka City North Anwarullah, which took place at around 2:30 a.m. late last Monday night.

He further said that this barbaric killing is by no means a simple theft or an isolated incident; rather, it is a planned and cold-blooded murder. This tragic incident proves that the overall public security situation has deteriorated alarmingly. Those responsible for maintaining law and order cannot evade their responsibility in this regard.

Cutting iron grills in a residential area in the early hours of the morning, staying inside a house for a long time, killing a person and then fleeing without hindrance is extremely disturbing and terrifying incident. He said that the deceased Anwarullah was a compassionate homeopathic physician and a person devoted to social service. The conversations and behavior of the killers before murdering him clearly indicate that this was not merely a robbery but a deliberate killing. We fear that a deep conspiracy may lie behind this incident.

I demand that the real perpetrators and planners of this incident be swiftly identified through an immediate, impartial, transparent and credible investigation and that they be given exemplary punishment. At the same time, I call for ensuring adequate security for the victim’s family as well as for the people of the country.

We believe that if the life of any citizen is not safe regardless of political identity, then the state is failing in its fundamental responsibility. The government and the law-enforcement agencies must take effective measures to prevent the recurrence of such brutal killings.

May Allah Almighty accept Anwarullah as a martyr, grant him Jannatul Ferdous, and give his bereaved family the strength to endure this profound grief. Ameen.
