-Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and its Central Publicity and Media Department Chief Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair today, 17 January, issued a statement strongly condemning and expressing deep concern over the armed attack on gazetted July uprising hero Hasnat Abdullah, who was injured during the mass uprising in Chandanaish, Chattogram.

In his statement, he said, “On the night of 16 January, in Chandanaish, Chattogram, miscreants launched a sudden attack using sticks and knives on gazetted July uprising hero Hasnat Abdullah, who was injured during the July mass uprising. I express deep concern and strongly condemn this terrorist attack.”

He further said, “Planned armed attacks on those who played a role in the movement to establish democracy, justice, and voting rights are an ominous sign for the nation.

This is not merely an attack on a July fighter; rather, it is a direct assault on democratic values.”

He also stated, “Choosing violence and terrorism under the pretext of political differences is in no way acceptable. If those involved in such incidents are not swiftly identified and brought under the law, the country’s electoral environment and political stability will be severely damaged.”

Advocate Zubair said, “I wish a speedy recovery for the injured Hasnat Abdullah and Mainuddin and express deep sympathy to their families. At the same time, I strongly urge the government and the concerned administration to ensure the security of the injured and gazetted heroes of the July mass uprising.”

He further said, “I call upon the concerned authorities to immediately ensure exemplary punishment of the perpetrators through a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation of this incident, and to take effective measures so that such barbaric attacks are not repeated in the future.”
