On September 7 (Sunday) evening, a grand ceremony was organized at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Le Méridien Dhaka in the capital on the occasion of the 203rd Independence Day of Brazil. The event, hosted at the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Paulo Fernando Dias Feres, the Ambassador of Brazil to Bangladesh, was attended by ambassadors, high commissioners, diplomats, political leaders, retired military officials, senior government officials, and eminent personalities from civil society. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, and Jamaat Ameer’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan also participated in the event.
On behalf of the Honorable Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Professor Mia Golam Porwar handed over a congratulatory message addressed to the Honorable President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to His Excellency Mr. Paulo Fernando Dias Feres, the Ambassador of Brazil.
On the occasion, prayers and best wishes were expressed for the long stability and success of the Government of Brazil and for the happiness, peace, prosperity, and advancement of the government and people of Brazil. It was also expressed with optimism that the bilateral trade and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Brazil would become stronger and more meaningful in the days ahead.
