Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar said that Islamic scholars and religious leaders across the country have come to realize that there must be electoral unity among all Islamic forces in the upcoming national election. They are working toward that goal, and we firmly believe that an understanding among us will soon be reached, Insha Allah.
He emphasized that maintaining this Islamic momentum and standing firm against all hegemonic powers is essential to fulfill our national spirit, patriotism, Islamic values, and the aspirations of thousands of martyrs — including our beloved senior leaders who embraced martyrdom. Victory in the upcoming national election is the only way to repay the debt we owe to them. He called on everyone to take this training session as an opportunity to elevate their standards in all aspects and commit to fulfilling all the criteria necessary to transform grassroots organizations into model ones.
Professor Mia Golam Porwar made these remarks on the second day of a two-day educational camp organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for Upazila/Thana Ameer-level leaders, held at the Al-Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar on June 26–27.
The session was presided over by Jamaat’s Central Executive Committee member Abdur Rob and conducted by Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim. Topic-based discussions were presented by central executive council members, including veteran leader ATM Azharul Islam, Saiful Alam Khan Milon, and Mobarak Hossain, along with Central Working Committee members Dr. Khalilur Rahman Madani and Dr. Professor Abdus Samad.
Professor Mia Golam Porwar further said, “Our organization’s vision is to align public opinion with Islam and to prepare competent individuals to lead the country. Through this work, we will witness the triumph of our religion, earn the pleasure of our Lord, gain His forgiveness, and be granted Paradise, Insha Allah. That is our vision.”
He added, “Today, the opportunity to achieve this goal has emerged. Let us reach people’s hearts through public service. Let us draw them closer to Islam. And if Allah grants us the opportunity to form a government, then Alhamdulillah, we have competent people ready to lead the country.”
He said that after such a major political shift, a new dream has emerged — the dream of building a humane Bangladesh — and it is Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami that must fulfill this dream. Let us all come together to build a happy, prosperous, and peaceful humane Bangladesh — a state free from inequality and human oppression. He further stated that, 54 years after independence, the opportunity for a free, fair, and neutral election has finally emerged in the country. We must seize this opportunity by making necessary reforms and ensuring that the fascists are brought to justice in a visible manner.
He remarked, “In my organizational visits, I often try to point out that the organizational structure and system of Jamaat is not found in any other political party. Our methods of developing people, our system of dawah (Islamic outreach), strengthening the party’s treasury, implementing political programs, selecting leaders, and enforcing decisions — all of it is distinct and unique. At the heart of this system is the grassroots organization.
He continued, “The nucleus of a strong organization is the unit. Just as the heart is the most vital organ in the human body, so too is the grassroots unit the heart of an organization. It is at the unit level where activists and qualified members are produced, from where the processions are filled, funds are collected, and votes are secured. When a unit functions properly, its impact is felt across the entire organization in the country.”
He added, “The upcoming national election does not belong to any single party. This election is a battle against both domestic and international conspiracies — against hegemonic forces who seek to eliminate Islamic forces from this country, who want to block the victory of Islam.
