The elections which have been held so far under the Awami League regime were not free, fair and credible. They have hijacked people’s voting rights by holding farcical election in 2014 and 2018. They are mulling to hold another farce this time. But the whole nation is united to press home the demand of restoring the caretaker government system. Any election without a caretaker government system will be a farce and mockery.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman said this while addressing a half-yearly member’s conference organized by Pabna district Jamaat-e-Islami. District Ameer Professor Abu Taleb Mondol presided over the program which was hosted by district secretary Principal Maulana Iqbal Hossain.
Professor Mujib stated that Jamaat believes in the peaceful implementation of the political programs. The party has proved it by holding successful mass rally on last 10th June in the capital. The government is allowing other parties to hold programs frequently but do not give Jamaat-e-Islami that constitutionally recognized rights. We are condemning such double standard policy of the government and urging the government to allow Jamaat-e-Islami to hold political programs like processions and rallies.
He claimed, following the declaration of 3 points in recent times, the government has intensified its repression and torture against Jamaat-e-Islami. As a part of that, the government arrested several thousand leaders and activists from various parts of the country. During the raid, the law enforcers also vandalized the furniture and other accessories as well. We demand immediate release of all detained leaders and activists including Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.
Acting Ameer said, the mass people are suffering immensely due to price hike of the essentials. The government has no control over the market. Addressing the members, he stated that we have to build broad base unity against the oppression of the government. We have to engage ourselves in the field having full trust upon Allah. If we can pass the test of faith, by the will of Allah, we will be victorious.
Addressing the program as the special guest, Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim said we should not be afraid of torture and repression. We have to nurture the fear of the hereafter and accountability on the day of judgment. We have to maintain loyalty and discipline within the organization. We have to remain firm in the path of movement and struggle.
Among others, district Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Johurul Islam, district’s assistant secretary Professor Abu Saleh Mohammad Abdullah, Professor Maulana Abdul Gaffar Khan and Dr. Abdul Baset Khan addressed the program.
