Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today, 8 January, issued the following message of condolence expressing deep sorrow at the passing of eminent educationist Professor Muhammad Ataur Rahman Biswas, Chairman of the Department of Islamic History and Culture under the Faculty of Arts of the University of Dhaka.
In the message, he said that Professor Muhammad Ataur Rahman Biswas was an honest, dedicated, and responsible teacher and a wise academician. His contributions and role in the field of education will remain memorable in the history of the nation. He played an outstanding role in upholding the dignity of teachers of both public and private universities, safeguarding their rights, and in building a just and democratic teachers’ community inspired by the spirit of the July 2024 Revolution, which is especially commendable.
He further said, “I express my profound grief at his demise. I pray to Almighty Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, to grant forgiveness to his soul. May Allah forgive him, shower His mercy upon him, and grant him a high rank in Jannah.”
May Almighty Allah grant patience and strength to the bereaved family members, colleagues, students, and well-wishers of the deceased in this difficult time. Ameen.
