Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today, 31 December, issued a message of condolence expressing profound grief at the demise of July uprising warrior Shafiqul Islam.

In the condolence statement, he said: “On 30 December (Tuesday), one of the prominent July warriors, Shafiqul Islam, passed away while undergoing treatment (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji‘un). I express my deepest sorrow at his demise.

He further said that many July warriors are still undergoing treatment in different hospitals. Their sacrifices have not yet come to an end. Shafiqul Islam is one of those whose invaluable lives and sacrifices have given us a new Bangladesh. The nation will remember them with due respect.

May Allah, the Almighty forgive all his shortcomings and accept him as a martyr. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family members and fellows.”
