6 people killed as the launch capsized in Shitalakkhya River; Many still missing; Jamaat Ameer condoles

At least 6 people were killed and several others got missing as ML Afsar Uddin capsized in the Shitalakkhya River after it was hit by a large cargo vessel, the MV Rupshi-9, in Char Syedpur area in Narayanganj Sadar upazila. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 21st March about this accident.

I am deeply saddened by this accident. It is not easy to meet up the losses of this accident and the casualties. I am praying to Allah so that the victims’ families can recover from the loss and bear the shock.

I am praying to Allah for the salvation of the deceased and extending sympathy to their families. I am also praying for the injured. Besides, I am urging the concerned authorities to pay proper compensation to the victim families.

While, 5 youth killed in another tragic road accident at 5 am on 21st March on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway on the way of Cox’s Bazar. The mishap happened as a truck and private car collided near Adhunagar station in Lohagara upazila.

Jamaat Ameer in his condolence message said, the incident like road mishap is painful and regrettable. The sudden deaths of these youths have caused huge damage in my heart. I am praying to Allah to accept them as martyrs. May Allah allow their family members to hold patience.

The number of road accidents have increased in the country due to reckless driving and unconsciousness. All stakeholders should be aware of this issue. I am urging the concerned authorities to pay due compensation to the victim families.
