The speedboat was coming to Banglabazar Ferry Ghat, taking 30 passengers from Shimulia ghat of Munshiganj towards Banglabazar ferry ghat. Subsequently, the speedboat overturned after hitting a sand-laden bulkhead anchored in Padma near Kathalbari ferry ghat in Madaripur's Shibcharupazila. I am expressing deep shock for the deceased and extending sympathies to their mournful families. I am also urging the concerned authorities to rescue those victims who are still missing. Besides, I am calling them upon to probe into the mishap in order to take stern legal measures against the involved personnel. I am also urging the authorities concerned to pay due compensation to the victim families.
