16 more die from Narayanganj Mosque blast; Jamaat Ameer condoles; urges to ensure proper treatment of the injured

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 5 September 2020 expressing deep condolence as at least 16 people died in a tragic Mosque blast in Narayanaganj.

Around 50 people suffered severe injuries in a blast at Pashchim Talla Baitus Salam Mosque of the Fatulla area under Narayanganj district after Esha prayers yesterday. They were taken to the hospital nearby and later on, 37 of them have been transferred to the Burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Till now, at least sixteen people, who suffered severe injuries, died while undergoing treatment in the same hospital. Another 24 patients are in critical condition. I am expressing deep shock over the incident and extending sympathy to the mournful families. May Allah accept all the deceased as martyr and bless them with Jannah.

I am wishing quick recovery of all the injured and urging the concerned authorities to ensure their due medical care and treatment.

I am also calling upon the authorities concerned to probe into the incident and simultaneously to take strict legal measures against the personnel who were responsible behind this tragic accident.
