Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 3 April 2020 expressing deep shock at the death of Pedro Lazo Torres Yahia, president of the Islamic League of Cuba.

I am deeply shocked at the death of Pedro Lazo Torres Yahia, president of the Islamic League of Cuba. Yahia Pedro, came to Islam for the first time in 1966. Later. He had studied on Islam and subsequently started research on Islam since 1970. He conducted the preaching of Islam across the Cuban island amid a very adverse situation.  His relentless efforts helped Islam to gain a strong position in Cuba.

We have lost a great Islamic leader and a dedicated soul of Islamic movement at the death of Yahia Pedro. I am praying seeking salvation of his soul. May Allah accept all his noble deeds. May Allah bless him with Jannah. I am extending my compassion and sympathy to his mournful family, relatives and fan followers.
