National unity is a must to free the country from terrorism

Blasts in militant den in Sylhet kill 6 including two cops; Secretary General expresses concern

Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 26th March, 2017 expressing deep concern as 6 people including two cops have been killed and over 50 peoples including journalists, policemen and RAB members became injured two powerful bomb blasts near a militant den in Sylhet.

“For last 3 days, the law enforcers have cordoned a militant den in Sylhet and the para commando forces of the military forces and SWAT members have initiated their operations. Para Commandos from Sylhet division evacuated 78 residents who had been trapped inside the building since early hours Friday. At that time, two powerful bombs went off at separate places near a militant den in Sylhet, killed six people, including two policemen, and injured 50 others. I am praying for the salvation of the deceased and also praying for the recovery of the injury victims. Besides, I am extending sympathy to the victim families.

I hope that the military men and the law enforcers would be able to disarm the militants and to resolve the crisis with due patience, courage and rational moves. We are again calling for eliminating division for the sake of country’s interest and also to form a national unity and consensus in order to make this country free from terrorism.”
