12 Jamaat leaders and activists including 5 pious ladies arrested in Jhinaidah; Mia Ghulam Parwar demands immediate release

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam and former member of the Parliament Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 6th March, 2017 protesting the unjust arrest of 12 leaders and activists of Jhinaidah district Jamaat including district’s Moheshpur municipality unit Jamaat Ameer Ghulam Rahman, former municipality commissioner Shahidul Islam and 5 other female activists.

“Police has unjustifiably arrested 12 leaders and activists of Jhinaidah district Jamaat including district’s Moheshpur municipality unit Jamaat Ameer Ghulam Rahman, former municipality commissioner Shahidul Islam and 5 other female activists. Police has arrested them without any reason.

The government is detaining the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami continuously from different places across the country just to abolish the party leadership. Even the religious ladies are not spared from the repression of the government. The tyrannical government is imprisoning the innocent Jamaat men just to remain in power forcefully. I am urging the countrymen to stand against the government’s oppression and torture.

Finally, I am calling upon the authorities concerned to release all the detained Jamaat leaders and activists including Jhinaidah district’s Moheshpur municipality Jamaat Ameer Ghulam Rahman immediately.”
