Secretary General demands immediate release of the Jhinaidah district Jamaat leaders

Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 1st March, 2017 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of 4 leaders and activists of Jhinaidah district Jamaat including district’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Abul Kashem.

“The government has arrested 4 leaders and activists of Jhinaidah district Jamaat including district’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Abul Kashem in order to destroy the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami. They are completely innocent.

The government is relentlessly arresting the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different places across the country and lodging false cases against them just to attain their ill political interest. The incumbent authoritarian regime has become detached from the general masses for its continuous repression against the opposition quarters, particularly Jamaat-e-Islami. The government is making its ill effort to stay in office forcefully by continuing repression against the mass people. I am urging the countrymen to raise voice against the inhuman torture and suppression of the present authoritarian government.

Finally, I am calling upon the authorities concerned to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Jhinaidah district Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Abul Kashem immediately.”
