Ruling party MP murder incident: Rafiqul Islam Khan denounces the false remark of Jahangir Kabir Nanok

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 2nd January, 2017 protesting the baseless, provocative and false remark of ruling Awami League’s Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanok against Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir centering the murder incident of Gaibandha-1 constituency’s Awami League lawmaker Monjurul Islam Liton.

“We became surprised at the provocative comment of ruling Awami League’s Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanok that he has made on 1st January.

We have condemned the brutal murder of Gaibandha-1 constituency’s Awami League lawmaker Monjurul Islam Liton and demanded the punishment of the killers following a judicial investigation. Despite that, Mr. Jahangir Kabir Nanok made intentional, provocative and baseless comment against Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir. He has made this false and politically motivated statement just to shift the blame and liabilities on other. The comment of the murdered Monjurul Islam Liton’s wife and several consecutive reports from different dailies indicated internal feud behind this murder. The police intelligence further claimed that the killers are familiar to the victim MP Liton. Fahmida Bulbul Kakoli, the younger sister of the murdered lawmaker already has filed a case with Sundarganj police station against some 5 unidentified miscreants. But ignoring all these facts, Awami League leaders are continuously delivering false statements against Jamaat and Chhatrashibir, which is totally blameworthy. Peoples assume that, these kinds of comments are made just to save the real killers.

The intentional speeches of the Awami League leaders proved that they are blaming Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir just to attain their ill political interest. Awami League always tried to gain some ill benefit by shifting the blame upon Jamaat-e-Islami immediate after a negative incident. They have made such efforts in the past as well but never could prove the authenticity of their claim. I want to assert once again that Jamaat and Chhatrashibir never believe in the politics of terrorism. So no question is raised at all about having any involvement of Jamaat-e-Islami or Chhatrashibir with the murder incident of MP Liton. The ill campaign is going on against Jamaat-e-Islami as a part of their blame game tactics. I am urging the Awami League leaders to give up these ill strategies and to identify the reali criminals. Only then peace can be restored in this country.

I am again calling upon the authorities concerned to conduct a judicial investigation into the murder incident of lawmaker Monjurul Islam Liton and to punish the real killers substantially. I am also urging to release all the detained leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir immediately, who had been arrested in connection with this murder incident.”
