Journalist killed in ruling party infighting in Sirajganj; Tasnim Alam condemns

Central Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Professor Tasnim Alam has issued the following statement on 5th February, 2017 protesting and condemning the incident as the correspondent of Daily Samakal Abdul Hakim Shimul shot dead while discharging his professional duties during a ruling Awami League infighting in Shahzadpur Upazila of Sirajganj district.

“The incident of broad day murder of the correspondent of Daily Samakal Abdul Hakim Shimul in front of the policemen proved that how severely the law and order situation of the country has been deteriorated.

The murder of this journalist during a ruling party infighting substantiated that public life and property is not safe. The government has terribly failed to secure public safety. Listening to the news of this murder, even the grandmother of Abdul Hakim Shimul also died. Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun. What could be more pathetic incident than this?

I am urging the authorities concerned to probe into the murder of journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul and also to bring the criminals to the book.

I am praying for the salvation of the departed soul of journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul. I am extending sympathy to his mournful family and asking the authorities to pay due compensation to this family.”
