Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and Chattogram Regional Director, Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan said in a statement today, 23 November, in response to the remarks made on 22 November by the party’s Central Working Committee member and former Mr. Shahjahan Chowdhury.

“We have seen the statement. It is entirely his own statement. He himself will be able to explain it better. Jamaat does not endorse his statement. We have immediately drawn his attention to it. We are also taking measures internally as we deem appropriate regarding this incident.

He further said, we believe that the administration will carry out their duties with full professionalism. There is nothing here for us to intervene in. In the past, those within the administration who did not perform their duties with professionalism have harmed the country.”
