Jamaat Ameer remembers the contributions of Shaheed Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid

-Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued the following statement on 20th November, 2025 remembering and commemorating the contributions of former Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Minister of Social Welfare, Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.

“Shaheed Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid was an idealistic and uncompromising leader of the Islamic movement. His firm role in establishing democracy, the rule of law, justice, human rights, voting rights, and a welfare state based on justice and equity will be remembered for generations.

As the Minister of Social Welfare in the Four-Party Alliance government from 2001 to 2006, he set a shining example by discharging his duties with honesty, efficiency, and transparency. The Awami League government, failing to counter the popularity of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami politically, resorted to attempts to render the party leaderless. As part of that scheme, a conspiratorial case of crimes against humanity was filed against Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, and based on politically motivated fabricated testimonies, he was sentenced to death.

The recent acquittal of former Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, ATM Azharul Islam, by the Supreme Court has proved that the previous verdicts against Jamaat-e-Islami leaders were driven by malicious political motives and were unjust and farcical. Moreover, the Chief Justice who led the bench that pronounced his death sentence has himself been convicted in a corruption case. One who is corrupt cannot deliver justice. Solely for political reasons, Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid and other top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami were executed by hanging.

His death sentence was carried out at 12:55 a.m. on 21 November 2015. One day, by the sacrifices and blood of Shaheed Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid and other top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, an Islamic society will be established in this country, InshaAllah. The nation deeply feels his absence today. He will remain remembered in the hearts of the people.

May the Almighty Allah, the Lord of the Universe accept the martyrdom of Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus. I call upon all members of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to carry forward his unfinished tasks, and I seek the cooperation of the people of the country in this regard.”
