Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, issued a statement on August 16 strongly condemning and protesting the misleading and false information presented about Jamaat-e-Islami in the report titled ‘অন্তরালে জোট নিয়ে দৌড়ঝাঁপ’ (Hustle and Bustle Over Alliance Behind the Scenes”) published on the front page of the Daily Kaler Kantha.
In the statement, he said: “In the said report of the Daily Kaler Kantho, the claim that ‘Jamaat is reported to be seeking at least 50 seats from BNP’ is completely baseless, fabricated, and intentional. By presenting such untrue information, an ill-attempt has been made to mislead public opinion. The reality is that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has not held any discussion with BNP regarding the formation of an alliance. Therefore, the statement about seeking 50 seats is not only laughable but also entirely false.”
He further said: “It is extremely regrettable for a popular daily like Kaler Kantho to publish such false and misleading news. We expect that Kaler Kantho will uphold responsibility and professionalism in its news reporting.”
He urged the authorities of the Daily Kaler Kantho to refrain from publishing such baseless and misleading information and requested that they publish this protest statement with due importance in order to dispel the confusion that has been created already.
