Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum issued a statement on June 1 condemning and protesting against the spreading of false information against Jamaat Ameer to make him controversial.
In the statement, he said, "The false information spread on social media claiming that the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman secretly visited the capital of Qatar, Doha in recent times, is not true. Our statement is that the Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman did not visit the capital of Qatar, Doha or any other country recently. He remained in the country. For the sake of the countrymen, the program schedule held by the Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman from May 28 to May 31 is given below.
1. All the countrymen are aware that on Wednesday morning, May 28, Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman received the former Acting Secretary General of the organization, ATM Azharul Islam, at Shahbagh intersection and subsequently joined a view exchange program with him at the Al-Falah auditorium in Moghbazar around 11:30 am. He also visited the grave of former Jamaat Ameer Professor Ghulam Azam at Moghbazar Kazi Office Lane and and also the graves of Barrister Abdur Razzak and the wife of ATM Azharul Islam at Azimpur graveyard at the same afternoon.
2. Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stayed at his residence in Bashundhara all day on Thursday, May 29 and at the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at night.
3. He conducted a training workshop of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir organized at the central office of the organization from dawn to 9 am on Friday, May 30.
4. A meeting of the Central Executive Council was held at the central office after Maghrib on Friday, May 30 under the chairmanship of the Ameer-e-Jamaat.
The CCTV footage of the entry and meeting of the Ameer-e-Jamaat at the central office on May 29 and 30 is preserved in our office; anyone who wants to can check it.
5. Jamaat Ameer delivered the speech as the chief guest on the closing day of the two-day training camp organized by the district and city unit working committee members of the Rangpur-Dinajpur region of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Friday and Saturday, (May 30 and 31). The video footage of this program was published in various social media and the news reports have been published in several daily newspapers.
On May 31, the Jamaat Ameer left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Syedpur Airport at 7 am and landed in Dhaka from Syedpur Airport at 7 pm on the same day.
6. According to the false information spread, if the Ameer-e-Jamaat has gone out of the country, then all information about his departure should be in the immigration department of the airport. If anyone wants, they can also verify that information.
He also said, "We think that this false information and propaganda has been spread against Jamaat Ameer with the ill-intention of making him controversial and derogatory to the people.
We, on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, strongly urge all concerned to refrain from spreading false information and propaganda against Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman."
