Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 15 February, 2020 protesting and gainsaying the untrue report of Bengali daily ‘Kaler Kantha’ titled ‘সাজাপ্রাপ্ত সুবহানের মৃত্যু’ (Convicted Subhan dies).

The news which has been published in Daily Kaler Kantha against Maulana Abdus Subhan is completely politically motivated. The report stated that, Maulana Abdus Subhan was sentenced to death in 3 charges, which is not true. Maulana Abdus Subhan has submitted an appeal plea against the tribunal order and it is waiting for hearing. Until the appeal dismissed, no one should be termed as criminal or convicted. So, prior to any such verdict of appellate division, any attempt to demean him as criminal will be considered as intentional and ill-motivated.

The reporter claim, “Maulana Abdus Subhan forced the people to go out of the mosque and then subsequently slaughtered them”. It is utterly a false allegation. Millions of people gathered in the funeral of Maulana Abdus Subhan today and proved that all the allegations brought against Maulana Subhan, were false, concocted, fabricated and manipulated.

Hundreds of thousands of people participated in the Namaj-e-Janaja of Maulana Subhan in Pabna today and testified that Maulana Abdus Subhan is completely innocent. Kaler Kantha published the false news to misguide the people but their all efforts turned into futile ultimately.
I hope that the authority of Daily Kaler Kantha would be refrained from publishing such a kind of false and confusing report in future and publish this rejoinder properly to minimize mass confusion.
