10 die as wedding vehicle collides with bus in Munshiganj; Jamaat Ameer condoles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following statement on 22 November 2019 expressing deep concern and shock as at least ten people, including six members of a family, were killed and 13 others injured as a bus collided with a microbus at Sreenagar in Munshiganj this afternoon.

“At least 10 people, including six members of a family, were killed and 13 others injured as a bus collided with a microbus at Sreenagar in Munshiganj this afternoon. I am expressing deep shock in this regard.

We came to know that, most of the deceased and victims were a groom's party travelling in the microbus. We have been observing for long days that the drivers are desperately plying their vehicles. These mishaps are being taken place frequently now days due to unawareness and carelessness of the drivers. The numbers of casualties are also increasing alarmingly- which is very regrettable.

I hope that the concerned authority would conduct a proper investigation into the accident in order to ensure exemplary punishments to the responsible personnel. I am also calling upon the authority to pay due compensation to the deceased’s families and also to take due measures to facilitate proper medical treatment to the wounded people. Besides, the authorities must take steps to stop the recurrence of such accidents.

I am praying for the salvation of the departed souls and extending deep sympathy to the injured. I am also asking local Jamaat leaders and activists to take side of the victim families.
