Denies existence of any alleged faction or disagreement within Jamaat-e-Islami

Tasnim Alam dismisses the false report of online news portal Bangla Tribune

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Publicity Department’s Secretary Professor Md. Tasnim Alam has issued the following statement on 21 November 2019 protesting and gainsaying the confusing and fabricated report of online newsportal ‘Bangla Tribune’ titled ‘জামায়াতে সিচুয়েশন ক্রিটিক্যাল’ (Critical situation within Jamaat-e-Islami).

“Online news portal Bangla Tribune on 20th November night published a report which claimed that Jamaat is crossing a critical situation centering the post of the Secretary General. This confusing and fictitious report has drawn our attention. I am condemning this baseless report.

Regarding the report, our clear view is, after taking the oath, the newly elected Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman will appoint next secretary general consulting with the concerned party forums as per the constitution of the organization. So, there is neither any such reality that several executive committee members are trying to hold the post nor there is disagreement within the party structure in this regard. There is no speculation as well. Bangla Tribune has published the news intentionally to mislead and misguide the general masses.

Let me further clarify that, there is no scope of expressing interest or to launch a campaign for securing any post in this organization. Jamaat’s constitution clearly considers such activities as offence. So, no question is emanated for any Jamaat man to get involved with such initiatives.

Concerned reporter of Bangla Tribune has made this speculative report as he has no idea about the constitution of Jamaat-e-Islami. Furthermore, there is no rightist, liberal of extremist section within this party.

Jamaat Ameer did not disclose his choice of preference to anybody. So, the reporter has no way to know this information. Terming Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan as extremist, the concerned reporter tried to blackmail him, which is discourteous and disrespectful for him as well. Such a kind of unwanted remark violates the ethics and manners of journalism.

Under the circumstances, I am urging the authority of Bangla Tribune to be refrained from publishing such concocted and confusing report about Jamaat-e-Islami in future. I am further expecting that they would publish this rejoinder properly to lessen the mass confusion.
