At least 16 killed as 2 trains collide head-on in Brahmanbaria; Jamaat Ameer condoles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following statement on 12 November 2019 expressing deep shock and concern as at least 16 people were killed and 50 others injured when Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita Express from Chattogram rammed Chattogram-bound Udayan Express from Sylhet at Mondobhag Railway Station in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria around 3:00am today.

“I am expressing my deep sorrow as at least 16 people were killed and many others injured when an intercity train crashed into another train in Kasba Upazila Under Brahmanbaria early today.

I hope that, the concerned authorities would investigate into the accident and subsequently ensure exemplary punishment of those personnel who were responsible behind this mishap. I am also expecting that they would take effective measures to stop the recurrence of such accident in future.

I am calling upon the authorities to pay due compensation to the victim families and also to take due measures to ensure proper medical treatment of the injured. I am also asking the local leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami help and assist the victims.

I am praying for the salvation of the departed souls who have been killed in this accident. I am also encompassing sympathy to their families and praying for the earliest recovery of all the injured.
