Police arrests 8 activists including 5 female members from Tangail; Maulana ATM Masum condemns

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 15 September 2019 protesting and condemning the unjust arrests of women wing secretary of Tangail district's Kalihati Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Mrs. Aainunnahar and 5 other female activists.

Police have arrested women wing secretary of Tangail district's Kalihati upazila Jamaat, Mrs. Aainnunnahar and 5 other female activists along 3 male party workers from her houses and simultaneously looted money and gold ornaments worth of one lack taka from her house. I am vehemently condemning the heinous acts of the law enforcers.

Police have arrested unjustly without any specific reason. The law enforcers, who are supposed to provide security and safety to the people, if they get involved with the incidents of looting and unjust arrest then to whom people would seek protection? Actually, police have arrested them to serve the ill-political interest of the government.

I am calling upon the concerned authorities to step due administrative and legal actions against those police members who were involved with looting incident. I am also urging the authorities to release Mrs. Aainunnahar and other detainees and to give looted ornaments back immediately.
