Jamaat Ameer taken into police remand again; Acting Ameer expresses deep resentment

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 13th November, 2017 expressing deep dissatisfaction and resentment as the incumbent tyrannical government has taken Jamaat Ameer Maqbul Ahmad in a 3 day police remand again in connection with a false case which had been lodged in 2012.

“Ameer-e-Jamaat Maqbul Ahmad is a veteran politician of 79 years. He has been suffering from various diseases including diabetes, high blood pressure, leg pain and back pain etc. This authority has caused him mental sufferings by taking him in consecutive remand unjustifiably.

This is a complete violation of human rights. Even the authority is paying no heed to the Apex Court’s directives about the police remand. Earlier, considering his age and physical sickness, the High Court directed the concerned authority to interrogate him at jail gate dismissing a Dhaka court’s previous remand order against the Jamaat Ameer.

Jamaat Ameer’s family and relatives become highly worried as he is being taken repeatedly in police remand. The government is busy in making conspiracy to destroy the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami. I am expressing my severe resentment over such ill-conspiracies of the government and urging the authorities concerned to release him immediately to ensure his medical treatment. Otherwise, the government has to take the liabilities if anything unwanted happened to the ailed Jamaat Ameer.”
