Comilla city Jamaat Ameer and 11 others including women activists arrested from Chandpur

Acting Ameer condemns nationwide arrest drive against Jamaat activists

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 23rd October, 2017 protesting and condemning the unjustifiable arrest of 11 members and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including party’s Comilla city unit Ameer Kazi Din Mohammad, Chandpur district Jamaat Secretary Billal Hossain Miaji, Assistant Secretary Masudul Islam, Chandpur district’s Jamaat’s working committee member Mohammad Hossain, Chandpur district Jamaat’s women wing’s Secretary Ferdousi Sultana and same wing’s assistant secretary Farjana Akhtar from Chandpur this morning.

“Police has arrested Comilla city Jamaat Ameer Kazi Din Mohammad and 11 members and activists from Chandpur as a part of government’s conspiracy to annihilate the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami.

The incumbent authoritarian government is arresting the top leaderships of Jamaat-e-Islami and its members and activists just to attain its ill political interest as they failed to tackle Jamaat-e-Islami politically. Today’s arrest incident once again exposed the fascist face of the government. I am calling upon the countrymen to raise voice against the authoritarian misrule of the government.

Finally I am urging the authorities concerned to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Comilla city Jamaat Ameer Kazi Din Mohammad immediately.”
