Satkhira district’s Jamaat leader arrested; Hamidur Rahman Azad condemns

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 15th October, 2017 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of Satkhira Sadar Upazila Jamaat Ameer Principal Maulana Abdul Gaffar.

“Police has unjustifiably arrested Satkhira Sadar Upazila Jamaat Ameer Principal Maulana Abdul Gaffar just to harass him politically.

The government has begun a heinous conspiracy to depoliticize the country in order to establish its one party rule and as a part of the same conspiracy, they are arresting the members and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami nationwide. The Jamaat activists are becoming the victim of government’s political vengeance. The continuous arrest drives against the innocent Jamaat workers are exposing the autocratic and fascist face of the government. I am calling upon the countrymen to raise voice against the misrule of the government.

Finally I am urging the authorities concerned to release all the detained members and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Satkhira Sadar Upazila Jamaat Ameer Principal Maulana Abdul Gaffar immediately.”
