Secretary General denounces the allegation of Mamata Banarjee; Jamaat has no activities in any neighbouring countries

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 18th July, 2017 protesting the baseless and false comment of Mamata Banarjee, the Chief Minister of India’s West Bengal, what she has made while talking to the journalists on 17th July after casting her votes in India’s Presidential election claiming that ‘Jamaat had an involvement in Basirhat riots of West Bengal.’

‘We do not want to believe the allegation of India’s West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banarjee that she has raised against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami of having involvement in the Basirhat riots. If she made any such allegation, that is completely untrue and false.

No question can be emanated about Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami of having any activities or operating any branches in the neighbouring country, India. Not only in India, rather such an alleged branch or wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami not available anywhere in the world. Indian government has every right and scope to take any kinds of legal measures against those forces, who had involvement with the Basirhat riots. We duly respect and always recognize each and every country’s independent entity and integrity. We have highest respect for our neighbouring countries. Similarly, we are expecting same kind of dignified and modest attitude and behaviour from the neighbouring countries as well.

I hope that, no scope of misunderstanding will remain further after our clear and vivid statement.”
