On 19 November (Wednesday) afternoon, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, held a courtesy meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh, His Excellency Joris van Bommel, at the Jamaat Ameer’s office in Bashundhara. The meeting took place in a very warm and cordial atmosphere. The honorable Ambassador was accompanied by the Embassy’s First Secretary (Political Affairs), Mr. Cor Stouten, and Senior Political Advisor Mr. Lubain Masum.
While, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, Jamaat Ameer’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, and noted educationist Dr. Zubair Ahmed were present at that time.
The meeting featured detailed discussions on Bangladesh’s current political situation, democracy, the human rights situation, bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the Netherlands, and issues of trade and economic cooperation.
It was expressed with optimism that the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and the Netherlands will be further strengthened in the future.
