On the morning of 18 November (Tuesday), a meeting was held between the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, and a delegation led by Mr. Jean Denis Pesme, Director of the World Bank’s Regional Office in Dhaka.

The meeting took place at Jamaat Ameer’s Bashundhara office in a very cordial and friendly environment. World Bank regional office's director was accompanied by Ms. Mehrin A. Mahbub, Economic Advisor of the Dhaka Division of the World Bank, and Operations Manager Ms. Gaëlle Martin.

On behalf of Jamaat Ameer, eminent economist Dr. Mizanur Rahman, former Senior Secretary Muhammad Safiullah, and Jamaat Ameer’s advisor on Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan were present on the occasion.

The meeting reviewed various issues including infrastructural reforms and development in Bangladesh’s financial sectors, sustainable economy, taxation system, and different aspects of the social service sector.
