On the afternoon of 15 September (Monday), Advocate Matiur Rahman Akands, Member of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department, held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Derek Loh Yu-Se, the High Commissioner of Singapore to Bangladesh, at a hotel in the capital Dhaka. Accompanying the High Commissioner were Mr. Mitchell Lee, Chargé d’Affaires of the High Commission, and Mr. Tai Dai Ern, Country Director for South Asia. The meeting was held in an atmosphere of great cordiality and sincerity.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on the prevailing political and economic situation in Bangladesh, industry and trade, the upcoming national parliamentary elections, state reforms, the proportional representation (PR) system, and other related issues. His Excellency High Commissioner Mr. Derek Loh highly appreciated Jamaat-e-Islami’s positive role in Bangladesh’s economic development and democratic progress. At the same time, both sides expressed optimism that the bilateral relations between the two countries would be further strengthened in the future.
