On 14 September (Sunday) evening, a grand ceremony was organized at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Sheraton Dhaka in the capital, on the occasion of Singapore’s 60th National Day. The event was hosted at the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Derek Loh, Non-resident High Commissioner of Singapore to Bangladesh, and Mr. Mitchell Lee, Charge d’Affaires. Ambassadors, high commissioners, diplomats from various countries, political leaders, retired military officers, senior government officials, and distinguished members of civil society participated in the program. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, Central Executive Committee member and Secretary of Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda, and Jamaat Ameer’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan attended the ceremony.
On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s honorable Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda handed over a felicitation message to His Excellency Mr. Mitchell Lee, Charge d’Affaires, which was addressed to Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on the occasion of Singapore’s 60th National Day.
On this occasion, along with wishing for the continued stability of the Singaporean government and the happiness, peace, prosperity, and progress of the Singaporean people. Optimism was expressed that the bilateral trade and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Singapore would become even stronger and more meaningful in the upcoming days.
