On Saturday, July 19, 2025, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, fell ill while on stage at a mass gathering held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. Following the event, he was promptly taken to a hospital in Dhaka for medical treatment. Upon receiving the news, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir rushed to the hospital to visit him, accompanied by BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan. Mr. Fakhrul inquired about Dr. Rahman’s health and prayed to Almighty Allah for his quick recovery during this critical time for the nation. He also conveyed that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman had personally inquired to know Dr. Shafiqur Rahman’s condition and had requested him to visit on their behalf.

Several senior leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami were present at the hospital during the visit. These included Central Executive Committee Member and veteran leader ATM Azharul Islam, Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Assistant Secretary Generals Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan and Advocate Muazzam Hossain Helal, Executive Committee Members Saiful Alam Khan Milon and Mr. Mobarak Hossain, Executive Committee Member and Dhaka North City Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin, Central Working Committee Member and Sylhet City Ameer Mr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam, Majlis-e-Shura Member Sirajul Islam, Dhaka South City Majlis-e-Shura Member Hafez Rashedul Islam, Dhaka North City Medical Thana Ameer Dr. Khaliduzzaman, and Special Adviser to the Ameer of Jamaat Dr. Zubair Ahmad.
