On Friday, July 18 at 3:00 PM, central leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami visited the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in preparation for the National Rally scheduled for the 19th July. The inspection team was led by Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman. Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary Generals Maulana ATM Masum, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Dr. Hamidur Rahman Azad, Maulana Abdul Halim, Advocate Moazzem Hossain Helal, and Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair accompanied him.
Jamaat’s Central Executive Council members Principal Md. Shahabuddin and Mr. Mobarak Hossain; Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda; Ameer of Dhaka City South Nurul Islam Bulbul, Ameer of Dhaka City North Mohammad Selim Uddin, Secretary of Dhaka City South Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud; Assistant Secretaries of Dhaka City North Mr. Yasin Arafat and Dr. Fakhruddin Manik; Assistant Secretary of Dhaka City South Muhammad Delwar Hossain; and Publicity Secretary of Dhaka City North Ataur Rahman Sarkar among others were present on the occasion.
Following the visit, Professor Mujibur Rahman made a brief statement to the journalists present. He said, “Alhamdulillah, the historic Suhrawardy Udyan is now fully prepared to host the National Rally. We sincerely pray to Almighty Allah for His blessings so that the rally can be conducted successfully and in an orderly manner. We ask for your prayers and also request the prayers of the people of the country.”
He further added, “Dear journalist friends, through your coverage, the news of our grand rally will not only reach the nation but also gain international attention. That is why we consider your cooperation extremely important. You have supported us in the past, and we hope, inshaAllah, you will extend your full support tomorrow as well.”
Professor Mia Golam Parwar stated, “Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman will preside over tomorrow’s National Rally. As per his long-cherished dream, he will call for unity and urge the entire nation to come together in order to establish a welfare-oriented state. He has conveyed his salam to you all and has requested prayers from the people of the country. This rally is the culmination of years of effort and dedication, and we hope it will be a peaceful and successful event that fulfills the people’s expectations.”
He also said, “Several hundred thousand people from both within and outside Dhaka are expected to attend the rally. This may cause additional traffic congestion. For that reason, we already issued an apology to the Dhaka city dwellers and the general public during yesterday’s press conference. Today again, we sincerely apologize to the citizens of the capital and the entire nation.”
