Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Member of Parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman has urged the government to immediately bring non-MPO (Monthly Pay Order) educational institutions under the MPO system. He stated that the demand of the teachers from the United Non-MPO Unity Council to bring these institutions under MPO is completely justified. The government should engage in discussions with these teachers and take steps to include non-MPO institutions in the MPO scheme.
He made these remarks on the afternoon of Tuesday, 8 July, during a views-exchange meeting with leaders of the Central Coordination Committee of the United Non-MPO Unity Council, held at the Jamaat central office. The meeting was presided over by Professor ABM Fazlul Karim, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Ideal Teachers’ Federation and former Senate Member of Dhaka University. Central President of the Bangladesh Ideal Teachers’ Federation and former Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Korban Ali; Vice-President of Bangladesh Sramik Kollan Federation Laskar Mohammad Taslim; President of the Technical Teachers’ Council Syed Abul Aziz, Chief Coordinator of the United Non-MPO Unity Council Principal Nazmus Shahadat Azadi; and Principal Dabirul Islam were present in the meeting as the special guests.
Professor Mujibur Rahman further stated that it is a demand of the time to nationalize all educational institutions across Bangladesh. He urged that all educational institutions must be nationalized without delay. He expressed his full support for the just demands of the teachers from the United Non-MPO Unity Council.
He also remarked that true justice will not be established in the country unless Islam is implemented. Therefore, efforts must be made to establish an Islamic society with the aim of establishing justice. He called upon everyone to stand united against conspiracies to bring fascism back.
