Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar said that in order to build a humane Bangladesh free from fascism, Jamaat-e-Islami has called for national unity. He emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami is willing to ally with any political party if necessary to establish this unity in the interest of the nation and to fulfill the people's aspirations. He further stated that in order to prevent the destruction of the nation's ideals and values, efforts are underway to form a greater alliance among patriotic and democratic Islamic political parties to ensure a fair election environment.
He added that to uphold the successes gained through the sacrifices and struggles of students and the masses during the July-August uprising, it is imperative to expedite the process of holding fascists accountable and implementing reforms. Therefore, all political parties must play a united role in steering national politics in a constructive and positive direction.
He made these remarks as the chief guest while speaking at the grand Eid gathering organized by Dumuria Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami at the field of Ula Majidia Islamia Dakhil Madrasa on the afternoon of Monday, 16 June.
The event was presided over by Dumuria Upazila Ameer Maulana Mukhtar Husain. Special guests included Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Khulna District Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Munshi Moinul Islam, and Professor Mia Golam Kuddus.
Professor Parwar said that the political landscape often becomes polarized ahead of elections. Various political parties and coalitions have already initiated dialogues and understandings. He said, “We do not want fascism to rise again in this country. The fascist Awami League has committed killings, and these crimes must be brought to justice.
He emphasized the need for reform across all sectors of the country. But for elections in particular, essential reforms must be implemented. Otherwise, he warned, another fascist like Hasina will emerge.
He also said, “We submitted several proposals to the government, including the need to transfer power to grassroots representatives through local government elections, conducting elections under the Proportional Representation (PR) system, and balancing the powers of the President and the Prime Minister.”
He further added that Bangladesh suffers from two major problems: first, the establishment of fascism and authoritarianism, and second, the country was being run under the servitude of Delhi. “Our top leaders were killed to implement foreign agendas,” he claimed. Addressing party activists, he stated, “We must utilize the organization’s long-standing experience, history, and loyalty to take it forward. It is not in our tradition to make hateful or envious comments toward one another on social media.”
