Jamaat Ameer at the massive workers' conference in Mymensingh

We will build a country where fascism will never be born again in any format, asserts Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that today, Bangladesh is bound by a solemn commitment. We envision a Bangladesh where there will be no oppression, no exploitation, and no persecution. A Bangladesh where no new form of fascism will ever emerge again. We want to build a country where there will be no discrimination among people, where we will not be champions in corruption, and where the stench of corruption will not linger. Justice will no longer weep in silence, no one will commit suicide from the despair of not receiving justice. We do not want to see such a scenario in Bangladesh anymore. We want a Bangladesh where there will be no disparity regarding the rights of people based on political affiliation or religion. Every citizen of the country will have their rightful rights established, Insha Allah.”

He further added, “We want to see Bangladesh governed by the laws of Allah and based on the Sunnah. The city-state of Madinah, established by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), was the first modern state in the world based on a written constitution. Prior to that, no state in the world had a written constitution. From there, the concept of the human charter was formed, and no ideology in the world has the courage to challenge it. Through this Charter of Madinah, the rights of all people were ensured.”

He further stated, “After being in power for fifteen and a half years, they assumed they would remain in power until the Day of Judgment. Their arrogance made it seem that way to us. They mocked the oppressed people of this country. They celebrated by distributing sweets after executing patriotic individuals through unjust trials. But ultimately, they have received the just judgment of Allah.”

Reassuring the people of Mymensingh, he said, “We are united in establishing the humane laws of Allah. There is no difference among us. Our Lord is one, our Prophet is one. Our way of life is one. On this foundation, we will build a united Bangladesh, Insha Allah. We will not accept any obstacle. We will not stop in the face of any challenge.”

He continued, “We will not compromise with injustice. Our only trust is in Allah. Therefore, we will fear none but Allah. I want to make it clear: no one should dare cast an evil eye toward us. Throughout history, the Prophets and their followers have fought uncompromisingly against falsehood, even sacrificing their lives—yet they never bowed to anyone. Remain united. Victory will come through the strength of unity, Insha Allah. Our goal is not to install any individual or party in power. Our goal is to establish the rights of the people.”

He stated, “There cannot be two systems of justice—one for the powerful and another for ordinary people. That cannot continue; it is no longer viable. If the president or prime minister commits a crime, they should not go unpunished. There is propaganda against Islam claiming that if Islamic principles are implemented, the country will collapse. Because if you cut off the hands of the corrupt, then the entire country would metaphorically become handless. But we say: first, they should be warned; their dignity and social status should be preserved.

Opportunities for lawful income must be ensured so that they can live honorably. But if they still commit theft or robbery, then they will be punished. Islam does not prescribe cutting off the hand of someone who steals out of hunger. Islam ensures their means of income. However, those who steal to build houses, buy cars, and expand bank balances—they should have their hands cut off publicly so that the entire nation can learn a lesson. If we can establish a few such examples, we believe theft will end. Likewise, if examples are set in cases of adultery, much of the sexual harassment in society will cease. Mothers and sisters will feel secure. When Allah's laws are established, the corrupt and terrorists will be eliminated. Those who live honest and clean lives will feel peace. They will be secure, and enjoy a free environment without fear.”

He said, “To build a humane Bangladesh, society must be freed from extortionists, land grabbers, and terrorists. We need to raise a group of people who live in the fear of Allah—who do not lie, do not deceive, do not betray others, and do not violate others’ dignity. We need to raise people in every home who will not engage in bribery or corruption. Only then can we build a truly humane Bangladesh.”

Regarding the interim government and the Women’s Reform Commission, he said, “We are only partially satisfied with this government. It is not a partisan government. Their actions are inconsistent, which puts the public in uncomfortable situations. A few days ago, the Women’s Reform Commission submitted a set of recommendations to the government. Several of these recommendations contradict the Qur’an and Sunnah. The social vision they promote is shameful for the nation. They are pushing the country toward a disastrous direction, and we will not allow that to happen, Insha Allah.”

He added, “The people of our region have a unique culture, tradition, and code of conduct that have been passed down through generations. That must not be violated. We will not accept their socially destructive recommendations. I want to address the honorable Chief Adviser: upon your return to the country, your first step should be to revoke the controversial recommendations, that goes against the Quran and the Sunnah.

On the topic of commodity prices, he said, “The people of the country were able to observe the holy month of Ramadan peacefully. But once again, it seems that prices are becoming unstable. The government must pay attention to this. Take action against those who disrupt social order. Break the price-fixing syndicates.”

Speaking about genocide, the Ameer of Jamaat said, “Those who have committed acts of genocide must not be allowed to remain above the law. Ensure that they are brought to justice. Make their trials visible to the public. To clean up the mess of the past fifteen and a half years, sufficient reforms must be carried out. Move away from black money and muscle power and ensure fair representation through a proportional representation (PR) electoral system.”

Regarding the current Election Commission, he said, “They claim they will present the nation with an exemplary election. We want to see them pass their acid test. We say to them: due to the absence of local government bodies, the nation is facing many problems. So, first conduct the local government elections. Through this acid test of local polls, we want to assess your capacity and goodwill. If people are satisfied with your actions, they will support you wholeheartedly. But if you fail, the people will show you the red card. We will not accept any special favors being given to any party or group. We are in favor of ensuring benefits for all 180 million people.”

Addressing the nation, he said, “Remain united. Stay organized on the path of justice and truth. We may have to take to the streets to help the government suppress the criminals. So, prepare yourselves and stay alert. If the same injustice continues as in the past, then what was the point of all the bloodshed and sacrifice? What answer will we give to the martyrs, the wounded, the disabled? What will we say to the nation? To honor the martyrs and the wounded, we are once again ready to sacrifice our lives to cleanse Bangladesh from corruption, oppression, bribery, and misrule.”

Addressing the youth, he said, “We earnestly appeal to you: throughout history, every great transformation in the world has taken place on the strength of youth. Even the July Movement was led by the youth. The struggle you have waged with hope and dreams—do not rest from it until your demands are met. Embrace the guidance of the Qur'an in your hearts. Strengthened by the power of Allah, stand firm against falsehood. You will be the leaders of tomorrow, and we will be your companions. We want to create opportunities for you to serve the nation. Step forward in the path of truth and justice. Come forward to establish the rights of all people regardless of party, ideology, or religion. May Allah grant us the ability to do so. Ameen.”

Special guest Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda said, “Bangladesh has now entered its 55th year. Yet, in these 55 years, Bangladesh has not been able to rid itself of corruption. It has not been able to stand tall with honor and dignity on the world stage. Especially during Sheikh Hasina’s 15-and-a-half-year fascist rule, 28 trillion taka has been laundered out of the country. The country's banking system has been destroyed. The economy has been paralyzed. The judiciary—the people’s ultimate refuge—has been devastated. Through fabricated verdicts, patriotic leaders of the country have been sentenced to death and executed to render the nation leaderless. Over the past fifteen and a half years, the people of Bangladesh have been deprived of their right to vote, their right to live, the right to work, fundamental rights, and basic human rights. Today, after 15 and a half years, we have a free Bangladesh once again. For that, we express our gratitude to Allah—Alhamdulillah.”

He further said, “Bangladesh desires change. To bring about such change, five key elements are required. One of those is leadership. “The second element for change is a strong organization. “The third element is sacrifice. The rise of any political party depends on the sacrifices of its leaders. “Another important thing needed is the 'Contribution to the Nation' of a political party in its journey to power. Its contribution to the nation is crucial. Jamaat-e-Islami has made the greatest individual contribution to the nation.
