Professor Mujibur Rahman addresses the grand rally of Jamaat-e-Islami at Arambagh of the capital

- No election will be held in the country without caretaker government
- The illegal and fascist government to be stepdown immediately
- Jamaat cannot be banned by enacting law

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman said, on 28th October 2006, the Awami goons attacked the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir with oar, paddles and sticks and killed our brothers like a snake. We will take its revenge but not by committing murders. We will take its revenge by establishing law of Allah and the rule of honest people in this country. We will not let their sacrifice in vain. No election will be held in the country without caretaker government and we will continue our movement till the voting rights of the people are secured.

He said this while addressing the grand rally organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at Arambagh circle of the capital at 2 pm today. The meeting was presided by Jamaat's central executive committee member and Dhaka south city Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul. Among others, Jamaat's Nayeb-e-Ameer and former lawmaker Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Maulana Shamsul Islam, Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum, Assistant Secretary General and former MP AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, central working committee member and Dhaka north city Jamaat’s Acting Ameer Abdur Rahman Musa and Islami Chhatrashibir’s central president Razibur Rahman Polash.

The grand rally was hosted by Jamaat's central working committee member and Dhaka south city secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud and Jamaat's central working committee member and Dhaka north city secretary Dr. Rezaul Karim. The rally was scheduled to begin from 2 pm but from 8 in the morning, thousands of people started coming to the venue. Within hours, from Fakirapool circle to Ittefaq intersection, Dainik Bangla circle up to Kamalapur railway station became full of human seas. City Jamaat leaders addressed the gathering at that time.

Professor Mujibur Rahman said, who has created us, only His law and doctrine will be prevailed. Our main target is to create an Islamic nation like the holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) did in Madina. We will make a welfare state in accordance with the directives of the holy Quran.

Acting Ameer said, no election will be held in the country without caretaker government and we will not let it happen. If necessary, we will resist all ill-efforts in exchange of our lives.

Condemning the ongoing Israeli massacre and brutalities in Gaza, Acting Ameer said, Israel is making repression against the Palestinians. By the grace of Allah, a day will come when the Zionist will search the path to escape, but they will not find the way out. They will be defeated.

He claimed that Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, central executive committee member Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda, Dhaka north city Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin many other leaders and activists and religious scholars have been kept behind the bar for years and they must be released immediately.

Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said, we want to establish Bangladesh as a welfare state where human rights, religious rights, rule of law and freedom of expression will be ensured. People will not be afraid of anybody except Almighty Allah. Jamaat-e-Islami is a democratic party and we are continuing movement to secure people’s fundamental rights including the voting rights.

He said, we have made simultaneous movement both with BNP and Awami League. We also had carried out movement with Awami League and Jatio Party earlier. Jamaat had played historic roles in all the previous movement and will continue to take part in the upcoming days. Jamaat is an honest political party. Jamaat is also an election-oriented party. Without the farcical elections of 2014 and 2018, we have participated in all national elections and we had representations in the parliament. No election will be allowed under a political regime. Without caretaker government, Jamaat will not take part in any election. Our movement for establishing caretaker government will continue.

Maulana Shamsul Islam said, today the people of Bangladesh have become united. The people will not give up until their voting rights are ensured. Addressing the gathering he claimed, we will continue our movement till the stepdown of the government and the restoration of the caretaker government system.

Maulana ATM Masum said, the nation is experiencing an autocratic rule. The government came to the power by hatching conspiracy in 2008 and they are continuing the office by holding two farcical elections in 2014 and 2018. We will not leave the street and continue this movement until the voting rights of the people are secured.

Hamidur Rahman Azad said, Awami League tried to eliminate Jamaat-e-Islami by attacking the partymen with oar, paddle and sticks in 2006. But they failed. We faced lots of repression but did not surrender. Whatever the government and its law enforcers claim, Jamaat is not a banned party. This grand rally proved people’s love and support for Jamaat-e-Islami. So, Jamaat cannot be banned by enacting law.

Maulana Abdul Halim said, the election will be held only if it is held under a caretaker government. On 28th October of 2006, Awami League has murdered 17 Jamaat leaders and activists in various places across the country. In last 15 years, they killed our top 11 leaders and 375 other activists. They have killed religious scholars. Right now, more than 1300 religious scholars are in prison on various false charges. False calses have been lodged against hundreds of thousands of Jamaat activists. Thousands of activists became physically crippled due to injuries. We will be on the street until this oppressor regime leaves office.

Nurul Islam Bulbul said, I am expressing my humble gratitude to Allah for making this grand rally successful. Thanking all the concerned people for their services and support, he stated that we will not return without attaining the demand of caretaker government and secured voting rights. Sheikh Hasina has to resign. We want the parliament to be dissolved immediately. The incumbent election commission has to resign as well.
