A meeting of the central executive committee of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami held with party’s Acting Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman. The meeting expresses deep concern over the price hike of the essentials and adopted the following proposals with a call to bring the essential commodities within the capacities of the people.

Central executive committee of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has been observing that prices of all essentials are increasing everyday alarmingly. Such price spiral has created a major crisis for the general masses. The prices of the commodities are on the rice extremely for last couple of months. Even no vegetable is found below 100 taka per kilogram.

Fishes, chickens are also beyond common people’s reach. The egg market is also very volatile. One dozen egg is being sold at 160-170 taka. People are passing days in extreme pressure because of this price hike. But people’s incomes are not being increased parallelly in line with the price of the food items. It has created a negative impact upon the public lives.

Central executive committee is also struggling even after less consumption. They are struggling to survive as well. People have become totally helpless. People are running here and there to get product at cheaper price. Life has become into a standstill. The government is watching the situation but paying no heed to the mass sufferings. The countrymen have become sieged by the government. Public resentment has increased like anything. Proper market mechanism has not built so far. The government has no control over the market. A syndicate is functioning under the backup of the ruling party and they are causing this price hike for their personal benefits. The government instead of reducing the mass suffering are mulling to increase it more.
