Awami League government is to be dethroned through a fair election under a caretaker government, says Acting Ameer

-Professor Mujibur Rahman

The incumbent Awami League government in its 15-year rule has expelled democracy, human rights, justice, and the rule of law from the country. The image and reputation of the country are being tarnished due to the undemocratic activities of the government. The government is demeaning the nation and they have no right to stay in office anymore. Awami League government is to be dethroned through a free, fair, and credible election under a caretaker government.

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman said this while virtually addressing a members’ conference organized by Kurigram district Jamaat on 27th May.

Kurigram district Ameer Maulana Abdul Matin Faruqee presided over the conference which was hosted by district Secretary Maulana Nizam Uddin. Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, central organizing secretary Dr. Samiul Haq Faruqee, central working committee member Principal Maulana Momtaz Uddin, and Professor Mahbubur Rahman Belal addressed the conference as the special guests.

Professor Mujib further said that the government has seized the democratic rights of Jamaat-e-Islami away. Jamaat’s top leaders have been imprisoned unjustifiably. Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic and democratic party. Jamaat wants to change the government in a recognized way. The government unlawfully hijacked people’s rights and grabbed academic institutions and hospitals. I am demanding immediate release of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and other detained leaders and activists.
