Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of it’s Central Media and Publicity Department, Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair today, 13 December, issued a statement strongly condemning and protesting the incident of BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi attributing false and baseless statements to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Sajjat Ali.

In the statement, he said, “I strongly condemn and protest the incident in which BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Mr. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has attributed false and unfounded statements to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Sajjat Ali.”

He further said, “The DMP Commissioner himself has clearly stated to the media that, ‘The statement made by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi by allegedly referring to me is completely bogus, fabricated, and false.’ We believe that making such concocted statements involving the head of a vital and responsible state force is contrary to political decorum, irresponsible, and tantamount to creating confusion among the public.”

He added, “Rizvi’s false and reckless remarks prove that he does not hesitate to bring state institutions into controversy for the sake of political gain. Such behavior is extremely harmful to democracy and political culture.”

He further said, “I call upon Mr. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi to immediately withdraw his statement. At the same time, I urge all concerned to uphold political civility by making responsible and truthful statements.”
