-Professor Mujibur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former Member of Parliament, Professor Mujibur Rahman, issued a statement today, 11 December, expressing deep sorrow and conveying strong condemnation and protest over the brutal hacking to death of Jamaat-e-Islami activist Shanto on the evening of 10 December in Aliganj area under Kashiadanga Police Station in Rajshahi.

In the statement, he said, “Undoubtedly, the brutal killing of our activist Shanto in Rajshahi is a heinous terrorist attack. This barbaric murder is a direct assault on human rights, justice, and the rule of law. We strongly condemn and protest this incident and express our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family members. I pray for the forgiveness of the departed soul of Shanto and supplicate to the Almighty Allah to accept him as a martyr.”

He further said, “Those involved in this killing—regardless of their identity—must be arrested without delay and brought to exemplary justice. If the criminals are not punished, criminal tendencies in society and the state will further increase, creating disorder. The state must ensure the safety of every citizen.”

He added, “Those who are behind this incident must be identified and apprehended swiftly. The law enforcement agencies must act impartially and professionally to establish justice.”

We strongly urge the relevant authorities of the government to arrest all individuals involved in Shanto’s murder without delay and ensure legal punishment.
