Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued a statement today on 10th December, 2025 on the Occasion of World Human Rights Day.
In the statement, he said, “10 December is World Human Rights Day. On this day in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted at the United Nations General Assembly. In 1950, the UN declared this day as World Human Rights Day. Since then, the day has been observed worldwide as Human Rights Day.
He further said, today we want to remind the entire nation—regardless of religion, race, caste, or community—that human rights are a precious trust and a safeguard for social justice. Under no circumstances can anyone’s rights be violated for political interests or opinions. There may be disagreements or differing views within society; even then, insulting or harassing those who hold different views, and violating the rights of women and civilians, is entirely illegal and unethical. Human rights can never be violated for political interests or opinions. Even if there are conflicts within society, it is absolutely unacceptable to subject any individual or group to insult, harassment, enforced disappearance, denial of justice, or state terrorism.
He said, in Gaza and across the whole of Palestine, in Kashmir, Myanmar, and in various countries around the world, human rights are being gravely violated. The barbaric Israeli forces are carrying out genocide in Gaza with the intention of permanently eliminating the Muslim population. No one is spared from the murderous Israeli forces’ bombings—women, children, the elderly, students, teachers, imams, muezzins, intellectuals. Violating all rules and norms of war, the enemies of humanity—the Israeli forces—have brutally killed more than 70,000 unarmed Palestinian civilians in cold blood and injured more than 175,000 Muslims, most of whom are women and children. A severe humanitarian catastrophe has unfolded in Gaza. Eighty percent of homes there have been reduced to rubble. The enemies of humanity—the barbaric Israeli forces—are not allowing any medical supplies, medicines, food, or water to enter for the people of Gaza. We do not have language adequate enough to condemn this.
He further said, in Kashmir, in Myanmar’s Rakhine, in Lebanon, in Ukraine, and in various other countries around the world, human rights are being violated. On World Human Rights Day, we make an earnest call to the United Nations, the European Union, and all humanitarian states, institutions, and organizations across the world to immediately stop the wars, uphold human rights, and take effective measures to ensure a permanent solution to the Palestinian crisis.”
