-Mia Golam Porwar

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 21st April, 2024 protesting and condemning the heinous incident of reportedly torching a Hindu temple which caused the murders of two Muslim brothers and left many others injured.

“Reportedly a temple had been torched on last 18th April evening in Dumain Union under Modhukhali Upazila of Faridpur district. Instantly, without any investigation or fair process, two Muslim brothers were murdered by the miscreants brutally. Although, there is law, justice and judicial structure in the country; but such mob beating and the murder of two Muslim brothers have shocked the society. This brutal incident reminds us the brutality of the age of ignorance and darkness.

We are urging the concerned authorities to probe the incident for ensuring exemplary punishment against the offenders. We must be aware of the vested quarters so that no one can disturb the communal bondage and religious harmony of the area.

We are seeking salvation and peace of the departed souls. We are extending sympathy to their mournful families. Besides, we are calling upon the authorities to pay due compensation to the victims and to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
