-Mia Golam Porwar

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 8th April, 2024 demanding release of all detained leaders and activists before Eid-ul-Fitr.

“Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam has been remaining behind the bar for more than 12 years now. He is suffering from various chronic diseases now. Doing movement and regular activities became difficult for him. Besides, many other leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir are being kept detained as well in connection with various false and concocted cases.

Former Jamaat Ameer Professor Ghulam Azam’s son and retired Brigadier General Abdullahil Aman Azmi and Jamaat’s former central executive committee member Shaheed Mir Quasem Ali’s son and Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman has been missing since August of 2016. They had been abducted by some unidentified people who had claimed themselves as law enforcers. Since then, their families are totally in uncertainty about their whereabouts. They have been passing days amid tensions and worries for more than 8 years now. I am urging the concerned authorities to bring them back to their families so that they can celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr together.

I am calling upon the authorities concerned to release all detained leaders and activists before Eid-ul-Fitr so that they can celebrate this occasion of joy with their family members.
