Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 29th February, 2024 protesting and condemning police's obstructions and attack against the demonstration of Ganatanra Mancha which was heading towards Bangladesh Secretariat today.

The demonstration of Ganatanra Mancha was organised protesting the price hike of the essentials, bank looting and money laundering. Police carried out attacks against the demonstrators that left Ganatanra Mancha leader Zunaid Saki and 50 other leaders and activists injured.

Today's attacks of the incumbent corrupted government proves that they will not allow the citizens to protest theit ill-deeds like money laundering and looting of public properties. This attack also exposed the fascist face of the government. Government's today's attack is a major blow against the voting rights, democracy, rule of law and justice.

Although government is talking about democracy verbally but practically their activities clearly demonstrate their one-party fasicm. The incumbent has imposed itself upon the nation like an unbearable stone by coming to the power through holding a dummy election. This government without public support, are trying to stay in office through torture, oppression and detention

I am urging the people of all walks including all political parties, professional platforms, intellectuals, lawyers, teachers, students, journalists to launch massive resistance against the farcical election drama of the government and their subsequent repression.
