Central Executive Committee urges to bring prices of all essential commodities within people's capacity ahead of Ramadan

A meeting of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's central executive committee was held with party's Acting Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman in the chair. The meeting adopted following proposal expressing deep concern over the price hike of the essentials:

People of all classes particularly the lower-income and middle class people are badly suffering for the price hikes of essentials.

The ruling party affiliated businessmen and traders are increasing prices by forming syndicate and causing suffering to the people. The government is not taking any effective measures to curb the price hike. The mass suffering can be understood easily if the TCB truck's queue is observed. Huge number of people have been queuing for hours to get essentials at a reasonable price. But most of the time, they are not getting items as they expect.

Prices of all essentials have increased alarmingly. Even the prices of fishes, beef, meats and other grocery items are also out of common's reach. The government is not paying heed to the public suffering.

Central executive committee is observing that national economy is gradually moving toward disastrous consequences. The economy is massively suffering due to financial mismanagement, corruption, looting and money laundering activities. The government has utterly failed to restore financial discipline. The revenue deficit has become more than 23 thousands crore taka in 6 months. This is why, the government has become compelled to cut 60 thousand crore taka from the current fiscal year. It exposed the miserable condition of the national economy. The country is about to collapse but the government is not worried about this fact. Under the circumstances, Central executive committee is urging the government to bring prices of all essentials within people's capacity ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
