BRAC University dismisses a teacher for his criticism of new curriculum of the government; Acting Ameer protests

-Professor Mujibur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former member of the parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 23rd January, 2024 protesting the job dismissal of a BRAC University teacher because of his criticism of the immoral academic curriculum of the incumbent fascist government.

“The incumbent fascist government is plotting conspiracy to destroy the characters of the students by imposing an immoral academic curriculum. 92 percent Muslim of this country have vehemently rejected this curriculum. Country’s academicians, political and social organizations have urged the government to rectify this controversial curriculum. But the government is not paying any heed to their call. In this backdrop, a teacher of BRAC University namely Asif Mahtab has played a role like an idealistic teacher. Out of his good conscience, he protested the perverted culture of homosexuality. He actually reflects the desires of the people. I would like to appreciate him for his bold and courageous role.

By dismissing him, BRAC University authority has taken stance in favor of the controversial and immoral academic curriculum. I am condemning such position of the BRAC University authorities. The teacher’s community of the country along with the religious scholars, students, guardians and people of all walks must come forward in order to express solidarity with moral stance of Mr. Asif Mahtab. This is not his personal issue rather a national one. The conspiracy of destroying the next generations will not be tolerated.

I am urging the countrymen to resist the suicidal educational policy of the government. Besides, I am calling upon the authorities of BRAC University to withdraw their orders of Mr. Asif Mahtab’s dismissal and to reinstate him in his post immediately.”
